You and Your Tween: Help Your Child Enjoy Their Pre-teen Years

Tween book

Every now and then we all need a little bit more help than necessary. That’s me at the moment.  The Tween Years are killing me.  Not only have my two adorable, ungrateful kids turned into back-chatting, negotiating lawyer types, but they also have somehow morphed into people who don’t realise how much effort goes into keeping them healthy, happy, and on some really bad days, simply alive!

‘You and your Tween’  – the book – has some valuable insights on how to handle most of the issues, if not all, but the more valuable stuff, for me, was reading the real life experiences of other parents, from the Netmums site.  That was really valuable.

I am a big believer that one should have lots of different experiences , friends, and hear many opinions of others, before you decide for yourself what the best course of action would be.  We are not islands (most of us, although I have met a few), and we can all benefit from others experience, which is what this book really provides in a nice neat way.

I think that if you can listen to others experiences, you might well find a trick that works for you and your family, without all the pain the other family had to go through to get there. Thanks goodness for other Mums with Tweens!

Of course, the ‘expert’ views were equally as interesting, from a professional point of view, reading their take was often informative, and in many cases exactly what I do  in my own home, so knowing I was doing something  right was very uplifting.

The book covers a wide variety of topics, from sex, and media, to friends and school. The chapters are well delivered, and easy to read, and the variety of topics covers everything that one would basically encounter in the day to day dealings of our Tweens life.  It’s the kind of book you could refer to for a few years, as issues cropped up, and as your Tween matured into a teenager (I don’t even want to think about those years!) – hopefully by then there’ll be a ‘You and Your Teenager’ I can read to help me through those years too!

Well done Netmums, on a great product, and a valuable offering to the parents of Tweens!!
