Truely, it is. Look at what’s in a Granola recipe and you’ll understand.
Basically its rolled oats, nuts, honey, and sometimes rice, that is usually baked until crispy. During the baking process the mixture is stirred to maintain a loose, breakfast cereal-type consistency. Dried fruits, such as raisins and dates, are often also added.
So, how does that translate to life? Well, look at it this way… Take your basic oats, flat, lightly coloured and ‘lifeless’ unless added to a bit of ‘nuts’ which we all have in us. We’re all a bit nutty in some way, whether it’s refusing to walk on cracks, or strongly opposing some rules, or liking singing in the shower full belt. We’re all a bit cooked really!
Add honey – some people have more honey in them than others – they are just sweet people. My son is one. He’ll help you do your bins, give you his last Pokemon card, and help you with your homework if you need it, he’s FULL of honey.
Dried fruits and raisins – well that is everyone – ‘raisin’ objections ( get it?), and some people on the bus I’ve met have smelt a lot more than just ‘fruity’! Also, some are down right ‘fruit loop’ as in crazy, drive at 120 miles and hour on country roads, drink to excess and get into a car to drive, start fights or simply like to argue when sober anyway!
Add a few strange ingredients like rice, bake and shake us, put us all on the same environment (add milk), and you get a bowl full of dried, fruity, nutty people, who make up the spice of life.
So, the next time you eat a bowl of Granola, consider who you know that meets all the ingredients in your bowl, and rejoice in the wonderful diversity we have in life!
