The disease of ‘more’

Because what we have never is enough – no matter how much you want, you what more, so in your mind, you always have less. The wanting or ‘more’ is leading to greed on a global scale. Clearly not a healthy way to live or think.

Teaching kids financial skills

Don’t just let them flail about spending recklessly, and prop them up with endless funds from the Bank of Mom. That’s not helping them, that’s enabling them, like giving drug addicts a drug, or alcoholics a drink. It’s not a good thing.

Life skills and University

Who says the Stanford University dean is right (along with all the other people that have written articles and books on the subject) – perhaps they are all wrong.

A great Common Sense idea

So, I’ve been listening to people, and parents and other individuals. Know what? I’ve come to the conclusions that the whole world suffers from a lack of Common Sense. Serious –  lack – of – common – sense. So I came up with a brilliant idea. Most people can’t stand my […]

Doing it all…..

Some parents believe in the opposite. Cook every meal for them. Make every cup of tea. Cut every fruit. Make every school lunch. Carry every bag. Buy every toy and open it up for them. Bake every cake. ETc – do everything, even when they are adults, keep on doin it.
What is your opinion on the matter?

The more premissive you are,the bigger the trouble ahead

taking time out

What do you do for yourself?

So I changed the way I do things this year. I decided I needed to do something for ME!
So, everyone who knows me knows I love cricket. I also love training my dogs. Both are outdoors activities, and I am an ‘outdoorsy’ person, so that suits me well.

Rage against the teenager

My daughter missed her school bus today because she was watching tv on her laptop in her room. RAGE!!
I don’t allow the kids to watch tv before school, because this is what happens. They forget time.
They don’t get ready, and they miss things – like school books, or homework, or BUSSES.

Enjoying a date

Is technology killing your relationship?

Are you like me and HATE how technology has come between you and your partner? How it’s inveigled itself into your conversation ( or now lack of it). How they check their screens all the time, dive on it when it buzzes. Run upstairs when it beeps – enough to just about break a leg.

Calamari rings – family feast!

My children love calamari. When they were little it was easy for them to easy it with their fingers, so it makes great finger food for little one too.

Wigwam fun

The kids had fun building it – the dog had fun in it , and the adults liked watching the process.
